Genome-Wide Association Study Identifies Two Loci for Stripe Rust Resistance in a Durum Wheat Panel from Iran

چکیده

Stripe rust (Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici (Pst)) is one of the most devastating fungal diseases durum wheat (Triticum turgidum L. var. Desf.). Races Pst with new virulence combinations are emerging more regularly on wheat-growing continents, which challenges breeding for resistance. This study aimed to identify and characterize resistance races based a genome-wide association study. GWAS an approach analyze associations between set single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) target phenotypic traits. A total 139 accessions from Iran were evaluated at seedling stage against isolates Pstv-37 Pstv-40 then genotyped using 15K SNP chip. In total, 230 significant identified across 14 chromosomes, 30 associated both isolates. Furthermore, 17 landraces showed immune response The markers resistant in this may be useful programs stripe

Novel Sources of Stripe Rust Resistance Identified by Genome-Wide Association Mapping in Ethiopian Durum Wheat (Triticum turgidum ssp. durum)

Stripe rust of wheat, caused by Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici (Pst), is a global concern for wheat production, and has been increasingly destructive in Ethiopia, as well as in the United States and in many other countries. As Ethiopia has a long history of stripe rust epidemics, its native wheat germplasm harbors potentially valuable resistance loci. Moreover, the Ethiopian germplasm has ...

Unveiling the genetic loci for a panicle developmental trait using genome-wide association study in rice

Panicle size has a high correlation with grain yield in rice. There is a bottleneck to identify the additional quantitative trait loci (QTL) for panicle size due to the conventional traits used for QTL mapping. To identify more genetic loci for panicle size, a panicle developmental trait (LNTB, the length from panicle neck-knot to the first primary branch in the rachis) related to panicle size ...

Genome-Wide Association Mapping of Leaf Rust Response in a Durum Wheat Worldwide Germplasm Collection.

Leaf rust (caused by Erikss. []) is increasingly impacting durum wheat ( L. var. ) production with the recent appearance of races with virulence to widely grown cultivars in many durum producing areas worldwide. A highly virulent race on durum wheat was recently detected in Kansas. This race may spread to the northern Great Plains, where most of the US durum wheat is produced. The objective of ...

Genome-Wide Association Mapping for Resistance to Leaf and Stripe Rust in Winter-Habit Hexaploid Wheat Landraces

Leaf rust, caused by Puccinia triticina (Pt), and stripe rust, caused by P. striiformis f. sp. tritici (Pst), are destructive foliar diseases of wheat worldwide. Breeding for disease resistance is the preferred strategy of managing both diseases. The continued emergence of new races of Pt and Pst requires a constant search for new sources of resistance. Here we report a genome-wide association ...

Genome-Wide Association Mapping for Seedling and Adult Plant Resistance to Stripe Rust in Synthetic Hexaploid Wheat

Use of genetic diversity from related wild and domesticated species has made a significant contribution to improving wheat productivity. Synthetic hexaploid wheats (SHWs) exhibit natural genetic variation for resistance and/or tolerance to biotic and abiotic stresses. Stripe rust caused by (Puccinia striiformis f. sp. tritici; Pst), is an important disease of wheat worldwide. To characterise lo...
